David and Maiko Wilkie founded Perth English Academy in 2006. It is a small family business dedicated to providing the highest possible standard of tuition in the English language.
Dave is a science graduate and has worked at various universities in Western Australia. He has both TESOL and CELTA qualifications in teaching English to speakers of other languages. He is one of less than 3 percent of teachers to gain a grade A pass in CELTA. Before starting Perth English Dave worked for other English Language schools in Perth such as Phoenix Academy and Language Links. He is involved in the Milner International College of English English Stay program. Dave has also worked in Indonesia and Japan as well as traveling extensively around Asia, Europe and Latin America.
Maiko is originally from Japan and runs the administrative side of the school. Enquiries in Japanese are welcome. We also try our best with French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
Both Maiko and Dave were involved in Skydiving for many years with Maiko winning both silver and gold medals at the Australian national championships. Dave was a full time parachute instructor and the chief instructor of the biggest skydiving center in Western Australia.
